Whilst you were all sleeping... the Sillhill Morris troup danced the sun up and I got to watch. It was glorious. At precisely 5.38am, Morris dancers all around the UK were welcoming in the summer with the traditional May 1st 'Dance at Dawn'.
I love mornings I'm afraid to admit. The feel of the first glimpse of sun on your skin, for me, is like all the Christmases have come at once. I've always been an early bird, unfortunately this means its often game over by 9.30pm.
Being a morning person on this occasion, meant I got to witness this magic event, so I guess I am really lucky to 'not mind' (love) mornings. I'd like to be able to tell you more about the significance of May 1st for Pagans and other beliefs, but I'll leave that to my friend Paula...she's the one with the blacked out face.
