Jas and Tani's blog posts will be in three parts - they have been so great in booking on three separate occasions for their engagement photos, the first of which took place in Arco Lounge in Harborne, Birmingham.
The story goes a little like this...
Jas contacted me out of the blue early on in the summer asking if I would be up for photographing a proposal for his now finance Tani. I called him back from a car park and he explained to me his plans to propose at Arco Lounge in Harborne. My very first proposal shoot, I was so excited.
Jas had booked a table for me and a table for the two of them nearby. He had considered the best vantage point for some natural, stealth like shots. I arrived about 20 minutes before the couple arrived to get settled in. Unbeknownst to Tani I had my camera stashed away in my lap for about half an hour before the proposal, all the while pretending to read a newspaper.
Pretty quickly, my excitement changed to nerves - sweaty palms, weird breathing, the works. This was the first time I had done this and it was like going back to shooting my first wedding. I only had one hit.
Needless to say, I got the cue and the proposal went swimmingly - she said 'yes' of course!
We then went for a quick wander up Harborne high street in search of some light to use for some couples portraits. We managed to find a street lamp in The White Swan car park and they just looked great together.
Stay tuned for Part 2 - the engagement shoot!
