What is THE DARKROOM?
THE DARKROOM is all about photographing women however and wherever they feel most beautiful and unique. If thats boudoir, then lets do it, if its rolling around in the mud with your pet labrador, I'm down. Or even if its just at home cooking with your children, I want you to feel strong and empowered!
Why is photographing 'real beauty' important?
There was a time when I used to think that dressing nicely, spending time on your hair and makeup was 'showing off' (yep!) and that really we should aim to put others before ourselves. What I found myself doing was basing my own self worth on what other people thought of me. Sound familiar? Ever since, I've realised the importance of feeling good about yourself, how your relationship with yourself is mirrored in those relationships around you. Photography is the best way for me to show women how amazing and unique they are and actually how close they already are to their ideal of what beautiful is.
I believe anything worth doing either starts off or develops into something personal and vice versa.
How do I book a shoot?
You can get in contact by e-mailing info@amy-rose.co.uk or calling +447920797286. We can arrange a Skype or facetime to give us a chance to get to know each other a little. We can also discuss possible locations you would like to shoot in, be it home, hotel, or a place that holds significance for you. The important thing is we go somewhere you feel comfortable. It is also for this reason why I don't shoot from my studio. The environment work in has to reflect you and your personality.
How much does it cost?
The shoot will last up to two hours and I suggest you have three or four outfit changes, but thats not a must! You will receive your edited images through an online password protected client gallery. There will be an initial sitting fee of £75, then, once you've seen your beautiful images and are 100% happy with them, I require £145 which will give you print permission and free downloads for ALL (typically around 80) of your images. Any print products are charged separately. I also work with several hair and make-up artists should you like recommendations to make the most of your shoot. I do edit in my own style and include very minor photoshopping and touch ups, only to accentuate your natural beauty, not to mask it.
Sounds nice, but I don't think I have the confidence!?
Well, I'll let you into a badly kept secret... I really struggle with having my photo taken. I'm the person doing the stupid back-teeth-clenched grin willing the person to just 'take the damn shot and have done with it'. And I'm the photographer. I should know this looks terrible in photos. And it does. So, its something I'm working on personally, one selfie at a time.
As with all my photography, its relaxed and conversational. Its my responsibility to make you look great and capture you in a relaxed manner and is also the reason why I don't shoot from a studio - I want to photograph you where you feel 'at home', because the chances are much more likely that I can capture your real beauty there.
Just take a look at all the gorgeous women I've photographed so far. Yes, their hair is out of place and their makeup a little smudged from all the belly laughing, but honestly, who cares? The reason they are beautiful is because they are honest and open for me and my lens and this has allowed me to capture them in this way.
